College-Bound Checklist

Make sure you are on track with the items you need to accomplish this school year!

Fall Semester: 

  • Map out the classes you'll need to take or the next four years in preparation for college admissions. Take the most challenging course of study possible

  • Join clubs and activities that interest you

  • Start building positive relationships with teachers, counselors, and activity supervisors, so that you can obtain recommendations for college later

  • select a volunteer organization in which you'd like to be involved

  • Become familiar with the Standardized Tests you will need to take (i.e. ACT/SAT, end-of-course exams)

Spring Semester:

  • Begin to discuss college costs with parents/guardians

  • Apply for summer jobs and volunteer opportunities

Credit Checks

Make sure you are on track to graduate in 4 years!

This year you should be enrolled in:

  • 1 English credit (ex. English I)

  • 1 Math credit (ex. Geometry or Algebra I)

  • 1 Science credit (ex. Physical Science)

  • 1 Social Studies credit (ex. World History)

  • .5 Health credit

  • .25 PE credit

  • 2 Electives

If you don't take Health this year, you will need to take it another year!

It is recommended to incoming Freshmen to take a year-long study hall. 

***A reminder that by graduation you will need a total of 21 credits with at least 4 English credits, 4 Math credits, 3 Science credits, 3 Social Studies Credits, 1 Fine Arts credit, 5 Elective credits, .5 Health credits, and .5 PE credits.

You can opt out of taking PE and instead complete in 2 seasons of a Genoa HS Sport, Cheerleading, or Marching Band. Click the link below for more information.
