JUNIORS

College-Bound Checklist

Make sure you are on track with the items you need to accomplish this school year!

Fall Semester: 

  • Take the most challenging course of study possible

  • Research prospective colleges and potential courses of study

  • Attend college fairs

  • Begin studying for the ACT

  • Take leadership roles in clubs, activities, and volunteer organizations

  • Begin to consider which teachers, advisors, counselors, or employers you might ask for letters of recommendation

  • Explore financial aid options with your parents/guardians

Summer:

  • Visit prospective colleges Athletes should register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse at www.eligibilitycenter.org

  • Request applications and rochures from your top colleges

  • Take time to prepare for the ACT and/or SAT

Spring Semester:

  • Apply for all avaliable scholarships for juniors

  • Research your course of study and find the colleges that offer that major

  • Visit prospective colleges during spring break

  • Sign up to take the ACT and/or SAT (GHS Code: 362 285)

  • Create your resume, including academic record, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work

  • Continue discussion of college costs with parents/guardians

  • Apply for summer jobs and volunteer opportunities

Credit Checks

Make sure you are on track to graduate in 2 years!

This year you should be enrolled in:

  • 1 English credit (ex. English III)

  • 1 Math credit (ex. Algebra II or Pre-Calculus)

  • 1 Science credit (ex. Chemistry, Biology II, Physics)

  • 1 Social Studies credit (ex. Government/Econ)

  • 3 Elective credits

***A reminder that by graduation you will need a total of 21 credits with at least 4 English credits, 4 Math credits, 3 Science credits, 3 Social Studies Credits, 1 Fine Arts credit, 5 Elective credits, .5 Health credits, and .5 PE credits.
